Yo-Yo as a Hobby
Yoyo was originated in Ancient times specifically in China but was modified in Greece and in India in 18th century. The yoyo was popular in 1790's in Europe. In the Philippine history, the yoyo was introduced in 16th century served as a weapon to stun enemies. However it became a toy and many Filipino were known to be expert in playing the yoyo.
On May 16, 1888, Rizal boarded the ship of the City of Rome. He was on the upper deck entertaining American and European passengers with a Yoyo exhibition. He demonstrated how to do proper execution of yoyo as a self-defense. Rizal's Yoyo was made of kamagong wood in Paeta, Laguna. Now, as a modern society it is made of celluloid plastic to make a yoyo's of different sizes and colors |
